Amazon Glacier

Every company needs a reliable disaster recovery plan. All your data from financial document to customer information has to be secured against loss . It’s the very essence of your business, and losing it would cost you more than time and frustration, in some instances it can cost you your business!

And backups are often at the epicentre of every IT department’s nightmares. Backups are always failing for a number of reasons, including corrupt media, forgetting to put the tape in or using a tape that’s too small to complete a full backup. The list goes on and on.

Cloud backups are the answer to all of your problems and more.

No longer are companies at the mercy of their ageing and failing hardware, no longer are they reliant on a tape actually working or someone checking the server replication is working. With Cloud backups these problems are gone forever.

Cloud Decode will review your backup requirements and prescribe you a solution that means you no longer need to suffer from backup problems. Once we’ve finished our work, you will have the absolute peace of mind that your backups are ultra-reliable and always dependable.

Our backup solution will be based on Amazon Glacier, which is an extremely low-cost storage service that provides secure and durable storage for data archiving and backup. In order to keep costs low, Amazon Glacier is optimized for data that is infrequently accessed and for which retrieval times of several hours are suitable. With Amazon Glacier, customers can reliably store large or small amounts of data for as little as $0.01 per gigabyte per month, a significant savings compared to on-premises solutions.

Backup service is provided in a country of your choice and all data is secured to military grade, so you always know where your data is and that it’s secure.

Service Highlights

Low cost – Amazon Glacier is an extremely low-cost, pay-as-you-go storage service. With Amazon Glacier, there are no upfront capital commitments and all ongoing operational expenses are included in the price.

Secure – Amazon Glacier supports secure transfer of your data over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and automatically stores data encrypted at rest using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256, a secure symmetric-key encryption standard using 256-bit encryption keys.

Durable – Amazon Glacier is designed to provide average annual durability of 99.999999999% for an archive. Whether you’re storing petabytes or gigabytes, Glacier automatically scales your storage up or down as needed. Simple – Amazon Glacier removes the need for complex and time-consuming capacity planning, ongoing negotiations with multiple hardware and software vendors, specialized training, and maintenance of offsite facilities or transportation of storage media to third party offsite locations. Data uploaded to Amazon Glacier remains safely stored for as long as it is needed with no additional effort from customers.

Designed for use with other Amazon Web Services – Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) allows you to seamlessly move data between Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier using data lifecycle policies.
